A Common Problem
Cat allergies have been a problem for many over the years. Why? There are many different allergens that can cause a reaction. Some are sensitive to the hair while others have a response to proteins in a cat’s saliva.

Not Many Answers
Sadly, there haven’t been many long-term answers for people with cat allergies. Some are forced to take allergy medication while others have had to hand over their feline friends as their symptoms are too much to handle. It looks as though that could all be about to change.
A New Vaccine
HypoPet have been working on a new vaccine to help reactions. However, it’s not for humans but is actually for our cats. That’s right; they are given the vaccine to help reduce a protein called Fel d 1 that is produced in a cat’s saliva – and causes many reactions.

Put To The Test
The scientists tested the vaccine of 54 cats in four studies, and they were pleased with the results. As well as having no toxic effect on the cats, the vaccine also showed that people were less allergic to the vaccinated cats than those without the treatment.
Could you imagine a world with a cat in your life when you’re not sneezing and having an allergy flare up? While it might have once seemed out of the question, it might not be long before it becomes a reality for many thanks to this new vaccine.
