Ever felt like one computer screen is just not enough? Well now, a tech company has created a smart desk that has three screens, giving you plenty of screen space and making you feel like the King of technology.
Cemtrex has created what it is describing as “the most advanced workstation on the market.” “The world is ready for a SmartDesk,” Cemtrex CEO and Chairman Saagar Govil said. “It is 2018 but our workspaces have not evolved like most things we interact with on a daily basis like our smartphones, smart cars, and smart homes.”
At the center of this beautiful smart desk are three multi-touch screens that are 24 inches and can even be controlled by one’s gestures. However, that is purely scratching the surface as far as its capabilities are concerned.
With a keyboard, a phone-charger and a trackpad, all embedded, this desk keeps surprising on every turn. There are also PC and USB ports in very discrete locations and even a scanner connected to the frame of the monitor.
Naturally, the Cemtrex SmartDesk is going to start off at an extremely hefty price, costing you a stunning $3,999. Also, another issue that potential customers might face is the lack of opportunity for customization. Every feature is in place, and cannot be adjusted.
Nevertheless, the SmartDesk is in essence, an office on a desk, which is something you will rarely see. When you take into consideration all the features that it has, its $3,999 tag is pretty reasonable.
Moreover, if you don’t want to use the SmartDesk for work purposes, it is an ideal space for the most fervent of video game aficionados. This is bound to be a playing experience like no other.
Other features include an inbuilt phone with Bluetooth ear-buds. The Cemtrex SmartDesk is available for pre-order now and will be on the market completely by the Fall of 2018.
People Online Are Convinced That Humans Aged Faster In The Past
Back in the day, life was tough — school was harder, people were meaner, they didn’t have all these gizmos and gadgets… and they aged faster, too. At least, that’s the theory some people believe after looking through pics of people from the past. Take a look at the proof below and see what you think.
World’s Youngest Granddad
John Travolta is a Hollywood legend whose films have been loved across many generations. From Grease in the ’70s to Hairspray in the 2000s, his career continues to delight people of every age, from grandparents to grandchildren. So to find out that he’s only 3 years younger than his own grandfather comes as quite a shock.
Okay, so he’s not really three years younger than his own grandfather — that would be crazy. But in this pic, he’s only three years younger than Abe Vigoda, who played his grandfather in Look Who’s Talking. We’re finding this age gap hard to believe, but those are the facts. What a difference a few years can make.
Over The Rainbow
Judy Garland made her debut in the days of black and white film, and then appeared in the “technicolor triumph” of The Wizard Of Oz. Everyone knows Garland as Dorothy, the girl who gets blown away from Kansas to the wonderful and wacky world of Oz.
Here’s a pic of Garland at the age of just 45 — but with her classic hairstyle and vintage outfit, you might mistake her as someone from another era entirely. Every era has its own distinct style and by staying true to her time, Garland manages to look a little older than you might first expect.
Life After Forty
Depending on how old you are, entering your 40s might seem like no big deal. On the other hand, it might seem like such a long way off that you can’t even imagine it. We’re here to tell you, though, that being 40 still counts as being young, these days. In the past, though, maybe it was a different story.
The two appear together on the cover of the all-time classic comedy, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and at that time they were only 42 and 37. That’s really not that old — though you might not know it by looking at them.
The Summer of 69
The summer of 69 wasn’t all about standing on your mama’s porch and playing your six-string in a high school band. There was serious business going on, too — the business of English football. Sir Bobby Charlton was one of the greats, even back then — when he was only 32 years old.
You wouldn’t know it from this photo. He doesn’t look like he’s over the hill yet, but he looks like he’s old enough to maybe have a grandchild on the way. Maybe it was all the focus he put into playing the game that added those years to his life.
Ever So Grateful
Rock n’ roll can really take it out of you — a lifestyle of partying and hard-living, constantly on the road, rocking every night. It’d be enough to age anyone. Jerry Garcia, the rock god of the Grateful Dead, had a distinct look and a heck of a voice, and the band gained fame around the world during the rebellious 60s.
By the 80s, Jerry Garcia was looking different. Check out this pic of him, aged only 39. Is it just the lighting, or is his hair a lighter shade? Did the 60s age him, or is that just how it was back then — maybe we should compare him to a 39-year-old accountant to get a better idea.
Hall of Fame
Ritchie Valens was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame following his tragic death in a plane crash when he was only 17 years old. At such a young age, he had already managed to make a name for himself as a musician and a performer.
Ritchie’s parents were from Mexico, and he recorded the Mexican folk song “La Bamba” as an infectious tune that people still love today. For such a young man, Ritchie accomplished a lot in his life — and as you can see from his pic, he seemed much older than his 17 years.
A Mother’s Love
When you’re young, you think that your parents are perfect. It’s only as you grow up and get to know them a bit better that you realize they’re only human, just like you. They have their strengths and weaknesses like everyone else, and they have lives of their own full of memories. Getting to know those memories can be a window into another world.
This pic is a window into a world where people seemed like they aged differently than they do today. This person’s mother was only 19 when this photo was taken, which might seem hard to believe.
Half A Century
Liz Taylor is a Hollywood legend without equal. Her career spanned half a century — she started acting from a very young age, back in the ’40s, and finally retired in the 2000s. She’s an icon from another era, and her award-winning performances are known across the world.
We associate Liz with another age, an age long past — so it can be strange to think of her as being a teenager. If you can believe it, though, Liz is only 17 in this pic. She already had that distinctive style which she’d come to be known for.
That ’70s Style
The ’70s were a crazy time for everyone. People’s values were changing, political and economic shifts were happening throughout the world. Humankind set foot on the moon for the very first time, and artists like Led Zeppelin, the Bee Gees, and Jimi Hendrix were turning the world of music on its head… and last, but not least, Jarred’s dad was 21.
With the suit, the tie, the glasses, and that smile, Jarred’s dad might seem like he’s a little bit older than just 21. There aren’t many 21-year-olds these days who could pull off quite that same look, but the ’70s were a different time.
History repeats itself, and time seems to go in cycles. Life is full of ups and downs, in individual lives as much as in the world at large. The same is true of styles — fashions repeat themselves, vintage outfits are always making a comeback, meaning everything old is new again.
So we’re just waiting for this look to make a comeback, too. It was a lot more common a few decades ago, and so the time is ripe for it to return. These guys are rocking it at age 17 — they might seem like they’re a lot older, but that’s just another thing that was different back then.
Clark Gable is famous for his performance as Rhett Butler in the black and white classic Gone With The Wind. No less famous is this pic of him, which just about everyone has seen, where Gable stares soulfully into the camera with all the grace and charm of an old fashioned Hollywood gentleman.
At the time, he was only 39. There’s something about him that looks so classic, so dignified. It could just be the black and white lighting of the photo. It might just be that Gable has that effect on everyone. Or it could be that people just aged differently back then.
Roy Orbison, rockabilly legend with hit after hit to his name. This giant of the country music scene is known for his slick hair and his thick-rimmed glasses, a look that many associate with a classic time from an age now past.
So, seeing Roy rocking that distinctive look that came to define him over his career makes us think of another time, way back when. A time that we associate with an older sort of person. In this pic, though, Orbison was only 24. There’s something that doesn’t seem quite right about that — the musician has the look of an older man, somehow.
It isn’t only celebs who seemed to age in different ways in the past. Ordinary people and their parents have also been captured by this unusual phenomenon. Like this person’s very own parents, aged only 20 and 22 in the pic below.
There’s something about a black and white image that makes people seem older, so that’s one piece of the puzzle — but there’s got to be more to it, right? This couple looks way different from the kinds of couples you’d see today who are in their early 20s. The hair, the suit, the earrings, the smiles — everything about it seems much different to the way a couple that age would look today.
All About Buddy
Buddy Ryan coached American football for 35 seasons, with a career that saw his working with the Eagles in Philly and the Jets in New York, as well as the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears. That’s quite a resume, and the experience Ryan had in the coaching game is written on his face.
When you compare him at age 51, on the left, to Dabo Swinney on the right, who is just about the same age, you can’t help but notice the differences. They’re both in baseball caps, so it’s not that making Dabo look younger. Neither has a beard, so it’s not like that makes Ryan look any older. It seems that maybe Ryan comes from an era when people aged differently.
The King Of Soul
The Big O — the King of Soul — Otis Redding was known by many names, and his musical genius thrilled a generation of soul artists from the 60s and beyond. His life and career were cut tragically short, when he died in a plane crash in 1967. He was only 26 years old.
At the age of 26, Otis Redding looks to have lived more life than most 26-year-olds have managed in our day. Very few of us can claim to have achieved quite so much in our lives by that age — it seems like maybe folks in the past just had more life in them, and do more living in a few short years than some of us can fit into a lifetime.
Coming Out Of The Cocoon
Anthony Brimley was an actor of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and more. He was also a long-time promotor of diabetes awareness and acted as the face of Quaker Oats on TV for many years. When he starred in the outlandish film Cocoon, he played a senior citizen — but he was only 49 years old.
It could just be his fine acting skills, or it could be that Brimley crossed a threshold. It was 1985 when the film came out — could this be the cut-off? Is it possible that after that date, people began to age as we experience it today? Or is it less of a hard and fast fact, and more of a mystery that can’t be pinned down?
Forty For Forty
From celebrities and superstars to the simple, everyday folk of the world, it seems this aging mystery transcends boundaries of fame and fortune. We’ve already seen some ordinary people on this list, and here’s another happy couple — at the age of only 40.
Again, we see the black and white, but that just makes it more obvious that there’s something more going on here. If you saw this couple walking down the street, or when you were out and about on the town, would you expect they were 40 years old — or would you expect they were older?
A Distinguished Career
Richard Vernon made a career out of playing stuffed shirts and snooty aristocrats. He’s made the list because he leaned into the role that life seemed to have given him. At the age of only 39, Vernon played the bank clerk Colonel Smithers in Goldfinger.
When audiences saw Vernon in that role, though, we wonder how old they thought he was. Did they pick him for being only 39 years of age, or did they think he was much older? Perhaps he simply found his calling and played his roles flawlessly — or perhaps age is a strange and mysterious thing that we don’t fully understand.
A Once Young Grandmother
We always associated our grandparents with age — after all, they’re bound to be much older than we are, just by definition. It can be a shock to think of them as having once been young, as having had lives of their own before we were around to cause trouble.
Here is someone’s grandmother, aged only 22. The glasses, the haircut, the dress — even the color of the photograph, everything comes together to make it seem like she should be much older. Though it might seem strange, she’s actually young here. Everyone was, once.
We’ve seen some 40-year-olds who seem much older, and some people in their 30s who seem to have aged much more than their 30 years would allow. Some people just age a little faster than others, that’s only to be expected, and it’s easy enough to accept — but sometimes things stretch beyond belief.
Athletes are always at the peak of their physical performance, and all the training and hard work they put in pays off. Maybe that goes some way towards explaining how someone who is only 19 can look so much older.
Larger Than Life
Another musician makes the list, this time the folk-rock hero Jim Croce. Croce had some success in his lifetime, and some of his music didn’t catch on until after he sadly departed this life. Even if you’ve not heard of Jim Croce, chances are you’d recognize his music if you heard it. Croce’s music has been played in numerous movies throughout the years, even in recent days.
From the pic, you can see it: Jim Croce looks like a man who has truly lived his life. That mustache just screams “’80s”, and maybe that’s part of what makes him seem older than his 30 years — but the world is a very strange place, so who can say?
Who Would’ve Thought?
We’ve brought Wilford Brimley back again, because this pic points out a startling discovery — a comparison that’s sure to turn a few heads, and make you scratch your chin in thought. When Cocoon was filmed, Brimley was 49, going on 50 — here he is again, happy and carefree.
That’s right — read over that again, and let it sink in. This is a pic of Brimley at 50 — the same age as Paul Rudd. Would you ever have picked the two of them for being the same age? There’s something about Brimley’s greying mustache and his cheerful, mischievous grin that makes him seem much older.
Some people seem older than they really are, and some nicknames seem like they’re from another era entirely. “Sparky” seems like the sort of thing your grandfather might call you, and there’s a reason for that — back in the day, Sparky Anderson was one of the greats of baseball, and over his career he earned more wins than almost every other manager.
What was his secret? Maybe he had wisdom beyond his years. It certainly seems that way when you see this pic of him, aged only 42. He’s practically still in his prime, here, but there’s something about him that makes him seem much older.
Mother And Son
Family photos are a great way to find out what the people of the past truly looked like. Celebs tend to be exceptional in the looks department, and so you can’t always judge things using movie stars for comparison. So when the pics of parents and grandparents come out, that’s when you can really get to the truth of things.
In this pic, dad is just 26 years old, and grandma is in her mid-50s. That’s an incredible span across the generational divide — two generations showing that aging was a different kind of thing back then, no matter who you were.
Playing It Cool
Here’s another sporting star — this time it’s Y. A. Tittle, American football quarterback who played for the Colts, the Giants, and the 49ers. His career was extensive and he had the skills to match, and you might think that sounds like a career that spans a lifetime.
In this pic, though, Tittle is only 36. That’s nowhere near past his prime, but it’s just about the time that he decided to retire from the world of professional sports. Let’s be honest, if we could retire at 36 we’d probably take the opportunity too.
World Cup Wonders
Grzegorz Lato was a Polish football player who went all the way to the World Cup in 1974. Back in those days, you didn’t have to be old to look it. People grew up faster back then and gained wisdom and maturity beyond their years. Soccer stars were no exception.
At the age of only 24, Grzegorz looks like a much older man in this pic. Maybe it’s just the lighting, or maybe it’s the expression on his face. Maybe it’s the years of intense training and fierce competition out on the field. Or maybe it’s really true that people aged more quickly back then.
Young And Old
It’s not just older folk who looked even older, back in the past. There are younger people who looked like older people, as well. Something about the style, the pose, the way people did their hair, the way they dressed — we associate it with the past, and so it makes them seem much older than what we’re used to.
This guy’s grandmother was only 15 when this pic was taken, and maybe back then this style was all the rage for teens. Looking at it from our perspective, though, it seems like the way an older person might look, and it warps the perception of how fast people used to age in the past.
Not A Crook
In 1973, Richard Nixon was inaugurated as the 37th President of the United States. Many people still remember attending the inauguration parade, either as adults or just as kids. Here’s one guy who went along to the celebrations with his grandfather.
No, wait — that’s his dad. He’s said that he was just 45 at the time, and that people kept mistaking him for his grandfather. There’s something about him that tells us that it isn’t so hard to believe. For a man who is 45 years old, he looks like he might be much older.
On The Cards
Ron Karkovice began playing baseball when he was just a kid, in little leagues and high school. He debuted with the Chicago White Sox in 1986, in his early twenties. It wasn’t long after that he appeared on a baseball card of his very own.
In this baseball card, Ron looks much older than his 24 years. If people aged faster in the past, it can’t have been that long ago in the past — 1987 was a little under 35 years ago, which isn’t that long ago at all compared to some of the other people on this list.
Solid As A Rock
We all know and love Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — wrestler, actor, and all-around rock-solid world champion. Before he was an actor, and before he was a wrestler, he was something else entirely: he was a high school student.
This could be the world’s first confirmed case of reverse aging. Today, the Rock seems youthful, carefree, and vibrant. In high school, though, judging from this photo, he looked sensible, with his suit and tie and his stern expression — he looked older then than he looks now.
Cheers To That
If you head into any bar throughout the world, you’ll find a couple of guys hanging out, sharing a laugh and having a few beers after a long, hard day. If you remember TV’s Cheers, you’ll remember Norm and Cliff — a couple of guys hanging out in a bar, just two young men in their early 30s.
Although, they sure don’t seem like a couple of young men. They look like fully grown adults — how many 30-year-old guys do you know today who look like Norm and Cliff from the first season of Cheers? We’re thinking it’s probably not that many.
An Unfair Comparison
Of all people, celebs are at the top of the list of people who don’t seem to have aged a day since they were in their early 20s. Maybe it’s all the money that gets spent on making them look their best, or maybe they’re just blessed with eternal good looks.
Brad Pitt is definitely one of the more blessed of actors when it comes to everlasting youth, so maybe this is an unfair comparison — but when you realize these two are the same age in these images, you really have to wonder.
All Hail The Duke
George Harris was a professional ice hockey player, but everyone just called him Duke. Duke played in the National Hockey League in the 60s, and then in the World Hockey Association in the 70s. He’s an old school legend of the ice, and he was born and bred in those times when people just seemed to age differently to the way we age today.
Here he is posing with his gear, on the ice, and we’re thinking you wouldn’t have guessed he was just 31 years old when the pic was taken. He’s got a look that comes from another era, and it makes him seem a lot older than the 31-year-olds you might see around today
Age of Earthquakes
It’s not just actors who aged faster back in the day, but sporting greats as well. Here we have the late John Tenta, who was better known as “Earthquake” when he wrestled in the WWF. When he was only 26 years old, he already looked like he’d seen a thing or two in a long and eventful life.
We’re not saying he looks old, but he doesn’t remind us of many 26-year-olds we know today. That’s a mighty beard for such a young man, though maybe it was easier to grow a beard back in former times. Maybe there was just something in the air.
Are You Karate Kidding Me
Mister Miyagi has more skills than just being a martial arts master — it seems that he’s also managed to unlock the secrets of aging. When you compare Pat Morita, who played Mister Miyagi in the Karate Kid, to pictures of Ralph Macchio at the same age, you can really see the difference.
It’s as clear as night and day. Maybe all those years spent training have filled Mister Miyagi with the wisdom of age. Maybe he’d look a lot younger if he swapped his masterful goatee for some Ralph Macchio style stubble. Or perhaps Macchio is just a youthful-looking guy? Either way, there’s no denying the apparent difference in their ages.
