There is no shortage of eye-catching architectural wonders in Dubai. Another feather on the cap, the Museum of the Future is destined to outshine all the other attractions of the city. This futuristic museum has officially opened its door for visitors. Let's find out more about this unique venture.

The Structure

Truly looking like something just beamed in from the future, the 252-feet, seven-story building is located in the financial district of Dubai and shaped like a giant silver metallic egg with a large hole at one side. The shining stainless steel facade of the windowless building is embellished with Arabic calligraphy, with quotes written by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Designed to become an architectural and cultural icon, the Museum is designed by architect Shaun Killa of Dubai-based farm ‘Killa Design’. The museum promises to bring together futurists, thinkers, innovators, and the public from around the world with its unique concept and innovative ideas.

The Displays

The Museum of the Future offers five different ‘experimental displays’ to the visitors, along with laboratories and workshops. The topmost floor features the cosmos-themed 'OSS Hope' showing the visitors what life could be like inside a huge space station in 2071. Here, visitors are also invited to "play out their own story" in space. The floor below is the rainforest section named ‘Vault of Life’, a recreation of a real part of the Amazon rainforest located in Leticia, Colombia. Next, the ‘Al Waha' display allows the visitors to immerse themselves in a sense-stimulating world. The 'Tomorrow Today' display explores the different ways and responses of technology in shaping the world of the future. Finally, the ‘Future Heroes’ section on the lowest level is a play-space designed for kids under the age of 10 to encourage young minds to make new discoveries.
